Software Patent Attorney

The Role:

You will provide key support to our tech clients in building and advising on their intellectual property portfolios including:

  • Working with the founding partner and clients at board and management level to devise effective intellectual property strategies to build real value
  • Working directly with CTOs and inventors to analyse invention disclosure reports and draft patent applications for computer-implemented inventions for filing in the UK, Europe, and the US
  • Managing and prosecuting patent applications globally
  • Infringement analysis and advice

Background and Skills Required:

We are looking for someone who has 2 years+ experience as a qualified Patent Attorney. The following is also highly desired:

  • Computer science degree, or electrical engineering or physics degree with a strong computer science component
  • General knowledge in the field of computer science preferably including some knowledge of network protocols and architectures, signal processing, artificial intelligence, the blockchain, cryptography, programming language concepts, 3D graphics, video and image formats and processing, and operating system concepts
  • Interest in software technology and tech start-ups
  • Highly organised and pro-active
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively

Salary and Start date:

We offer above market rate salaries in order to attract the best people. Start date is within next three months.

Newly-Qualified or Part-Qualified Software Patent Attorney

The Role:

You will work closely with the founding partner of the firm and other attorneys to assist on software patent matters including:

  • Working with the founding partner and inventors to draft patent applications covering computer-implemented inventions
  • Analysing official actions primarily from the US and European patent offices and preparing responses and amendments
  • Assisting with invalidity and infringement matters

Background and Skills Required:

We are looking for someone who has one to five years experience in the profession. The following is also highly desired:

  • Computer science degree, or electrical engineering or physics degree with a strong computer science component
  • General knowledge in the field of computer science
  • Interest in software technology and tech start-ups
  • Highly organised and pro-active
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively
